The underlyinig image deals with the site I sought refuge from during a very difficult epoch in my life. This location, on the University of Chicago campus, provided me freedom and a place to seek spiritual insights.
The text is taken from the 1561 Virbalis Inventory where the land holdings of Tomas Gedkantas was listed. His primary Lutheran parish was in Širvintas, but for eight years he, along with Martynas Mažvydas, administered to the religious needs of the city of Virbalis. In this inventory, he wrote the final several pages certifying the authenticity of the document.
The handwritten text is as it appears in this Inventory. It is in the inventory that the Plioplys surname first appears. It was the first documented beginning of my own lineage.

Freedom / Beginnings
These scarves should only be dry cleaned.
These are large-scale, 100% pure, mulberry silk scarves, 140 x 140 cm (55 x 55 in). Given their size, they are more properly called wraps (skraistės in Lithuanian). Most designer scarves, at their largest, are only 90 x 90 cm (35 x 35 in). These are two and a half times that size. The silk used is of the highest quality with silk twill weaving. The printing techniques are state of the art. These scarves are heavy, durable and warm.
